Most of Boxleigh Park’s top Sires have been bred from strong genetics within the stud, resulting in a naturally predictable and replicable pattern of consistency and our distinctive look and type.

Solid carcass traits & excellent wool quality

Over generations of breeding, Boxleigh Park genetics have been refined to support solid carcass traits while maintaining an excellent wool quality. This has enabled us to breed a versatile animal that is attractive to many markets.

Shearing takes place after weaning and before lambing at six-month intervals as a result of a fast-growing fibre.

There are many benefits resulting from shearing six monthly which include:

  • increased cash flow

  • elimination of coloured, cotted, and tender wool lines

  • higher fleece to pieces ratio

  • minimisation of the need to crutch

  • allowing Ewes to be joined and lamb in short wool

  • spreads wool marketing risk

  • same shearing calendar dates every year
