Genetics
Versatile
Breeding a merino that fattens easily and fast that still produces a quality wool ensures profitability across many markets both in difficult seasonal and market conditions.
Stylish
Most of Boxleigh Park’s top Sires have been bred from strong genetics within the stud, resulting in a naturally predictable and replicable pattern of consistency and our distinctive look and type.
Solid carcass traits & excellent wool quality
Over generations of breeding, Boxleigh Park genetics have been refined to support solid carcass traits while maintaining an excellent wool quality. This has enabled us to breed a versatile animal that is attractive to many markets.
Shearing takes place after weaning and before lambing at six-month intervals as a result of a fast-growing fibre.
There are many benefits resulting from shearing six monthly which include:
increased cash flow
elimination of coloured, cotted, and tender wool lines
higher fleece to pieces ratio
minimisation of the need to crutch
allowing Ewes to be joined and lamb in short wool
spreads wool marketing risk
same shearing calendar dates every year
